It’s an inevitability in the careers of most writers that eventually at least some of their books will fall out of print. Such was the case with many of my backlist titles, which was why I was delighted to be approached a few years ago by David Niall Wilson and David Dodd at Crossroad Press, who offered to pick up as many of those titles as I had the rights to and reissue them in paperback, digital and audiobook editions. Since then they have reissued five of my backlist titles - TOADY, THE SECRET OF ANATOMY, THE UGLIMEN, THE BLACK and FIDDLEBACK - with a sixth title, NOWHERE NEAR AN ANGEL, imminent, and others to follow. In the case of TOADY, this is the first time the book has been released in the US under its original title and with its full word count (the previous US edition, released by Bantam in 1991, was retitled THE HORROR CLUB and heavily edited), and in the case of THE BLACK, this is the first time the book has been released anywhere in anything other than as a limited edition hardback. Like Valancourt Books and Fathom Press, Crossroad are doing a great job of bringing long unavailable horror gems from the 70s, 80s and 90s back into print.
